Being charged with a DUI can be a sobering experience.
Deciding whether or not someone has a problem with alcohol or other drugs is not based on subjective criteria, but rather, on sound, evidence-based evaluations.
Some persons may be unaware of the relationship between their problems and alcohol/drug use; some may be open to exploring this relationship and to the possibility of change. Others may be resistant.
The assessment is the first step in license reinstatement and getting back on track.
Based on their professional assessment, the clinical evaluator may recommend treatment, ranging from 6-52 weeks.

What to expect:
A caring and understanding evaluator will sit down with you and discuss your situation.
Questions include:
“In the past, have you ever tried to stop using alcohol or other drugs
or significantly cut back on your use? If yes, what happened?”
“Were you ever hospitalized or treated in an emergency room or other facility for problems that happened when you went without alcohol or other drugs for several days?"
“Do you feel that you will get ill if you try to stop using alcohol or other drugs?”
“How difficult do you think it will be if you decide to stop using alcohol or other drugs?”
“How much help do you think you might need to change your use of alcohol or other drugs?”
