Employee Assistance Program

The Center for Behavior and Addiction Management (CBAM) is a human service agency in business to provide substance abuse/behavioral health treatment and prevention solutions on a schedule fee basis. The staff and consultants of CBAM are credentialed, trained professionals with over twenty years of experience in the delivery of substance abuse/behavioral health services. Our concentration is in the area court related evaluations, (e.g. DUI, Alcohol and Drug, Domestic Violence) outpatient substance abuse treatment and behavioral health service provisions.

Confidentiality

The staff of the Center for Behavior and Addiction Management understands the purpose of EAP's and to that end we adhere to the confidentiality guidance provided in 42 CFR part 2, and the Privacy Act (5 U.S.C. 552a (b) STUDIES SHOW THAT AN ESTIMATED 17% TO 20% OF WORKERS USE ALCOHOL AND DRUGS ON THE JOB. 73% OF ILLEGAL DRUG USERS ARE EMPLOYED. **

These startling statistics mean that all employers need to be concerned about the impact of drugs and alcohol. Employees with alcohol and other drug problems cost the U.S. employer billions of dollars in lost productivity and increased expenses. According to one study, in comparison with other employees, a typical employee experiencing problems with alcohol or other drug use:

(i) Was late 3 times or more
(ii) Requested time off 2.2 times more often
(iii) Used 3 times the normal level of sick benefits
(iv) Was 5 times more likely to file a worker's compensation claim
(v) Was involved in accidents 3.6 times more often.

CBAM offers an array of substance abuse and behavioral health services that are tailored to accommodate Employee Assistance Program referrals (EAP). Those services include:

Comprehensive Evaluation

Within 48 hours of receiving a request for a drug or alcohol assessment, an appointment will be arranged with a qualified Substance Abuse Professional. The evaluator will have specialty training in substance abuse evaluation and treatment. The evaluation is face to face experience utilizing proven and reliable substance abuse assessment tools, which include a comprehensive alcohol and drug history, standard psycho-social history and clinical assessment of associated health, work, legal, family, and personal problems.

Treatment Recommendations

Based on a comprehensive assessment, a recommendation will be made regarding the employee's need for assistance with an alcohol or drug problem. CBAM will provide a written report including a diagnostic summary and treatment recommendations to the employer.

Referral Services

The staff and consultants at CBAM have collectively worked in addictions treatment for more than twenty years. During that time we have developed collaborative relationships with an impressive list of treatment providers. Any referral made by CBAM will be driven by the clinical evaluation. In addition, the needs of the employer and employee will be considered when making a referral recommendation. We realize the importance of considering issues such as: employer leave policy, employees' ability to pay for services, including insurance coverage. Treatment recommendations and referral expectations will be clearly communicated between CBAM, the treatment provider, the employer, and the employee.

Monitoring and Reporting

Determining successful outcomes in a substance abuse treatment intervention can differ from employer to employer. The staff at CBAM is committed to determining mutual expectations regarding a treatment placement. To that end we will monitor and report the employee's compliance with the education or treatment plan designed for him or her. Compliance and completion should be mandatory in order for the employee to return to work.
